Botanical Garden Munich-Nymphenburg // Munich – Bavaria – Germany 2012

Back in spring 2012 I managed to get my hands on a dedicated macro lens. Looking for subjects we did two day trips to Munich’s botanical garden in Nymphenburg. It was the time of the butterfly exhibition so it was very easy to find nice motifs, however mastering  the small depth of field and often harsh backgrounds was a big challenge for me as a novice macro photographer. The following three galleries show some of the 550 photos I made during those two days. Enjoy!

First some of my favourite butterfly shots..

..here is some flora and a fish..

..and finally a second selection of butterflies!

All of the images were shot with the Pentax DFA-100 2.8 WR, one of the smallest macro lenses on the market and today the favourite lens in my quiver. Its capacities reach far beyond macro photography if you ask me :)
